This Class is taught outside in our beautiful garden patio. Please bring your lunch and we can eat together if you wish.

You are required to bring all your own art supplies. IMPORTANT: Please Read your Receipt
After you register for the class we will email you a receipt which will have an attachment with the complete list of exact items you will need to bring. Example TYPES OF: Brushes, Paper, Paints, Palette, Sponge, 1 quart jar for water)

In this class, you’ll learn all about what makes painting with watercolor so exciting. It's the sparkling transparency that makes looking at a watercolor so enjoyable! You’ll learn how to control watercolor washes on wet and dry paper.

In this class, you'll begin with learning about all of the materials; paints, brushes, paper, palettes as we work our way through all of the techniques used with watercolor. You'll learn color theory, color mixing, color schemes, the importance of values, as well as the elements of design and composition. You'll be making paintings on your own in very short order.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
Michael Friedland studied painting and design at Paier School of Art, Coronado School of Fine Arts and Philadelphia College of Art. Retired now from a forty year career as a designer, he has been teaching painting (with watercolor) for the past six years. He teaches in Mill Valley and in Oakland, helps with CWA’s Community Outreach program teaching Vietnam veterans. He taught design for more than eight years at a university in Montréal and at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. And he teaches for several weeks each year at Yosemite in their artists in residency program. Michael is on the board of directors of the California Watercolor Association and is Director of their National Exhibition. He has organized their Members Shows in recent years.
