Team Formation
Corte Madera FC forms teams and playing divisions by school grades rather than by age. This is so kids can play with their classmates. Friend requests will be taken into account when forming teams and we will make our best effort to accommodate these requests. Please understand that it is sometimes impossible to accommodate all requests!
This season Kindergarten and 1st Grade team’s practices will be run by professional trainers. Sarah Vigil (Coach Sarah of SoccerKiddos), will be the Head Trainer for the Kindergarten and 1st Grade program. Her expertise in working with young children, coupled with her knowledge of soccer, makes her the ideal person to head up this training. Our intent is to give our youngest participants a solid start to the sport of soccer, by giving them good basic instruction from the very start. This will help them to better enjoy soccer, and to have more fun.
Kindergarten and 1st Grade teams will train 1 day a week M-F. Teams will be assigned a training start time between 2:25pm and 4:15pm (Potentially 1:45pm on Wed). While professional trainers will be conducting the training, team coaches are encouraged to attend all training sessions. This will provide continuity from the training ground to game day.
The 2nd Grade through 4th Grade will train on days selected by the coach. Since parent coaches will work with these teams, their practice date will depend on the coach’ schedule.
For 2nd and 4th grade teams, professional trainers will also be conducting the training. However, all team coaches are encouraged to attend the training sessions. As with the younger group, this will provide continuity from the training ground to game day. Team coaches will be contacted concerning the training schedules.
